Payton Muse couldn’t be prouder to join Fox 17 News’ reporting team as their newest multimedia journalist.
Born and raised in southern Maryland, Payton discovered her passion for news at a young age when she was named the news anchor in middle school.
She graduated with her master’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in downtown Phoenix in December of 2021. She completed her undergraduate degree at Hofstra University in August 2018.
Upon her undergraduate graduation, Payton landed an internship that turned into a full-time production assistant job in the entertainment industry. She became cognizant of her desire to be more connected with the community.
During her time at Arizona State University, Payton interned for 12 News’ digital and social media team and moved to Madison, Wisconsin, for a summer multimedia internship at 27 News, where she found her passion for investigative storytelling.
Payton worked on an in-depth story on technology at the U.S.-Mexico Border, which aired during her time at the Phoenix Bureau for Cronkite News, where she worked as a ‘borderlands’ reporter in the fall of 2021. During her undergraduate degree, Payton interned at Manhattan Magazine, CBS News and TMZ’s sister site, TooFab.com.
“It’s not reporters’ job to tell viewers what to think; it’s to make them think,” is her news philosophy.
Payton is thrilled Nashville is the start of her career and her new home. Payton is always looking for tips and story ideas, or if you want to introduce yourself, she loves meeting new people! Reach out to her through her email, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.
