NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A young boy battling a rare, life-threatening form of cancer will be introduced this weekend as an honorary Nashville Sounds player.
Victor, a patient at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, will sign a season-long contract with Music City's Minor League Baseball team on Saturday after batting practice. He'll have the opportunity to spend several days and nights with the team and join them throughout the season for practices and hangouts.
Doctors diagnosed little Victor with Burkitt's Lymphoma in 2022. He began in-patient chemotherapy and his tumor has since shrunk by 75%. While Victor achieved remission in 12 weeks, he continues to visit the oncology clinic to monitor his health.
“We’re so excited to bring Victor on as a member of the Nashville Sounds,” said Sounds GM Adam English. “We know he will bring the energy and lift the players’ spirits just as much as our players will lift his.”
