Smash plane painted outside Bridgestone Area ahead of Preds-Jets series

(Fox 17 News)

The Nashville Predators are putting a new twits on their playoff tradition for their series with the Jets.

Normally, the Preds have a Smash car, but the series with the Winnipeg Jets calls for a special Smash plane.

To prep the smash car (or plane), the glass and engines are removed, and an artist paints the car to resemble to opposing team. The car is typically donated by a local auto body shop.

For a small fee, fans can take their turn swinging a sledgehammer at the smash car. All proceeds are donated to charity.

The NHL said the smash car has been a Preds playoff tradition since the first Stanley Cup Playoffs in the 2003-2004 season.
