The Uvalde Foundation, which formed in response to a mass shooting at a Texas elementary school, has commemorated the Nashville officers who responded to the tragedy at The Covenant School.

The founder of Uvalde Foundation For Kids, President Dr. Michael Stevens, said Metro Nashville Police Officers (MNPD) officers Rex Englebert and Michael Collazo showed "heroic action" to "save students."

The Uvalde Foundation recognizes law enforcement officials who respond to active intruders situations among schools, and strives to end school violence across the country.

President Dr. Stevens appeared in Nashville after the mass shooting at a private, Christian elementary school took three kids and three adults lives. Mass shooter 28-year-old Audrey Hale was killed by the two MNPD officers.

President Dr. Stevens referred to the MNPD officers as "Textbook, Yet Heroic Action By Officers To Save Students."

These officers did what they failed to do in Uvalde. These officers did what they failed to do in Columbine. From the moment they arrived on the scene, officers wasted no time.

Dr. Stevens added that these officers will be awarded by the foundation for their quick response.

We honor them for their work. Departments across the nation need to take notes.

Uvalde Foundation was formed after 19 students and two teachers were killed by a mass shooter at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas.

As the Nashville community mourns these innocent lives taken, an organization in Middle Tennessee established a fund for the school to help those healing. Those wanting to donate can visit the "Caring for Covenant Fund."
