WEEKI WACHEE, Fla. (WPEC) — A Florida woman confessed to killing her significant other after the victim's decomposed body was found at her home.
Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) were dispatched to a home on Darts Street in Weeki Wachee, regarding a possible missing woman.
When deputies arrived at the home, they met with family members who told them they were contacted by a friend. They were told the friend had not seen the woman in several days and was growing concerned about her wellbeing.
With help from the woman's family, deputies said they entered the home through the front door. While inside the home, deputies found the woman in a bedroom. Deputies added the woman was "obviously deceased", as she was in the advanced stages of decomposition.
The sheriff's office immediately noted suspicious circumstances surrounding the woman's death, and an investigation began. The victim's cause of death is still being determined.
Major Case detectives and Forensic specialists with HCSO said the victim’s significant other — 23-year-old Shauna Urive — and the victim's vehicle — a 2005 silver Pontiac Grand Am, bearing Florida tag: CG2VH —were both missing.
On Monday afternoon, Urive and the stolen car were found in Pasco County.
The sheriff's office said during an interview with detectives, Urive confessed to killing the victim. She was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
