Mom charged after terrifying video shows toddler falling out of moving car
MANKATO, Minn. (WZTV) - A mom has been charged after viral dash cam video showed the terrifying moment a toddler strapped in a car seat fell out of a moving vehicle.
Maimuna Kunow Hassan of Mamkato is charged with endangering a child, improperly restraining her child in a car seat and violating her instructional driver's permit as there was not another licensed driver in the car, FOX 9 Minnesota reports.
Chad Cheddar Mock told the news station that he was driving Monday morning when he saw the whole thing right before his eyes.
A car seat holding a 2-year-old fell out of the car in front of him and right onto the road. The car seat appeared to come from the driver's rear side door.
"If it didn't happen in front of me, I'd never have believed it," Mock wrote on Facebook.
FOX 9 reported police responded and found the child was properly strapped into the seat - "but the car seat wasn't fastened to the vehicle seat," the station said.
Mock told FOX 9 that the mother did walk back to get her child.
Hassan faces a year behind bars and a $3,000 fine if convicted.
