EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWMT) — A head-on crash erupted a vehicle in flames Monday with a mother and her 6-year-old child inside.
A nurse driving by heroically rescued the two from the burning vehicle.
However, Michigan State Police announced three days later that the 6-year-old girl died from her injuries.
"The loss of a child is a tremendous heartache, and our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family and friends," state police said in a statement.
The crash happened on Sidney Road near Stevenson.
A 37-year-old man from Crystal crossed over the centerline of Sidney Road around 6:30 a.m. Monday, colliding with a Subaru traveling the other direction, state police said.
