Bride to be walked down aisle by man who received her father's heart in transplant
A Pittsburgh woman was able to have a piece of her father with her on her wedding day after the man who received her father's heart surprised her the night before her wedding.
Jeni Stepian's father was an organ donor, so when he died in 2006 her father was able to help others in need of life-saving transplants.
One of those people was Arthur Thomas, who had been waiting for a heart for over a decade. Stepian and Thomas had spoken over the phone through the years, but the two had never met in person. Thomas and his wife traveled from their New Jersey home to surprise Stepion the night before her wedding, meeting each other in person for the first time.
"It's just like having my dad here, and better because we get to share this story with other people and other people see that organ donors do matter," says Stepion.
