$20 million raised in GoFundMe for Trump's Border Wall to be refunded

$20 million raised by a GoFundMe account planning to support President Trump's Border Wall proposal will be refunded, according to an update on the GoFundMe page.

The "We The People Will Build the Wall" was launched by Purple Heart medal recipient and disabled military veteran Brian Kolfage.

"When I created this fundraiser, I said if we did not reach our goal we will refund donors," Kolfage said in a Jan. 11 update on the GoFundMe page. "I am honoring that commitment today. We will promptly refund your donation unless you tell us you approve our new plan for action."

The GoFundMe page quickly received both praise and criticism after its launch. Donations started pouring into the account to support the border wall proposal.

The reasoning for the $20 million worth of refunds? "The federal government won’t be able to accept our donations anytime soon," the page said.

The account claims a nonprofit is in the works to support the wall. If you're interested in learning more about that, click here.
