Young man accidentally shoots, kills 19 year old in Clarksville

Clarksville Police said a 19 year old has died after being accidentally shot by another man who was cleaning a gun.

Police responded to the shooting in the 160 block of Stateline Road to find that the teenager had been shot in the torso area. He was taken via LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died.

Police said a 24-year-old man was trying to clear a Glock handgun and discharged the firearm, striking the teen.

The investigation is ongoing.

Recent Accidental Shootings

This is the latest of several reported accidental shootings since last weekend. In all three cases, young men were killed.

In East Nashville, Donquarious Barber, 18, died after a gun in his pocket accidentally discharged while he was eating cereal.

In southern Kentucky, Elijah "EJ" Austin, 14, died when a gun he was handling accidentally went off and hit him in the head on Saturday.
