Woman Claims She Was Bitten By Bed Bugs at Nashville Hotel

2-23 Bed Bugs

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Comfort Suites off Percy Priest Drive has been ordered to keep one hotel room off limits to guests until the health department finds no trace of bed bugs.

On Monday the Metro Health Department investigated a bed bug complaint from a former guest. A North Carolina woman contacted FOX17 showing pictures and documentation of what she says are dozens of bed bug bites she got after spending one night at the Comfort Suites. Linda Eckert said she spent more than $1,000 to exterminate her entire home to rid the bed bugs. She also incurred expenses to rent a storage facility for a month, board the family dog, and do laundry.

According to Eckert, hotel managers did not take her claims seriously and failed to return her calls and emails in a timely manner. FOX17 could not reach hotel managers for comment.

The Metro Health Department is giving the Comfort Suites ten days to come back into compliance with state health and safety regulations or the hotel could be fined and end up in court.
