A woman has been charged in a hit and run crash that wiped out three motorcycles Sunday in Clarksville.

Cheri Chukwu Green, 31, was cited for driver to exercise due care, failure to provide immediate notice of accident, leaving the scene of an accident with damage, no proof of insurance and registration required before operation, the Clarksville Police Department announced on Thursday.

An investigation involving public and media assistance identified Green as the driver of the PT Cruiser involved in the crash.

Green had reportedly left a lounge on College Street after having a drink.

She was driving on Kraft Street, rounded a curve and hit her brakes quickly as traffic came to a sudden stop.

Green's car ran off the roadway and into gravel, forcing a steering overcorrection as she tried to avoid vehicles.

The car went into the parking lot and struck the motorcycles.

Green left the scene after people nearby became hostile, claiming she felt unsafe. She headed home and failed to call 911.

Officers located Green's vehicle after receiving a tip.

The PT Cruiser had temporary tags and has been unregistered since October 2018.

The vehicle was located on Jack Miller Boulevard on March 11, with the temporary tags removed.
