Winter weather advisory issued for Cumberland Plateau, morning snow possible

(Fox 17 News)

As middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky expect to see a major cool down on Tuesday, areas of the Cumberland Plateau could see flurries in the morning.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Cumberland Plateau from 5-10 a.m. on Tuesday. SkyWatch 17 Chief Meteorologist Katy Morgan said a light dusting a snow is possible with less than an inch of accumulation.

Some flurries could fall across the rest of middle Tennessee with some 'snow bursts' showing up in one model. Morgan said these bursts could bring quick, heavy snowfalls to those areas, which could bring problems to drivers during the morning commute.

A major cool down is also expected with temperatures in the 30s and wind chills in the 20s and mid-teens overnight for areas of the plateau.
