Wet weekend ahead with rainfall totals from 2-3" in middle Tennessee

(Fox 17 News)

Middle Tennessee is in for a wet week ahead as 2-3 inches of rain over the weekend.

While Friday is looking like a great day with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 60s, rain showers begin Saturday morning and will be around for most of the day.

SkyWatch17 Chief Meteorologist Katy Morgan said rain will begin Saturday morning and last on and off through Monday morning. Areas in the southeast and on the Cumberland Plateau will see higher rainfall amounts. Folks in the northwest counties will see less rainfall.

Minor flooding is possible especially southeast of Nashville and on the plateau. Since the rain is expected in waves with breaks in between, Morgan said this should reduce major flooding, but people will need to watch for minor flooding and rising creeks/streams.

A quick break is expected Tuesday before more rain moves in Wednesday.

Seven day rain totals range from 1 inch to 4 inches, with the most rain expected in southeast middle Tennessee counties.
