New body camera video shows the moments Franklin Police officers pulled a man from a burning car, saving his life.

At around 5 a.m. Tuesday officers were responding to the Jordan Rd. and Westminster Dr. area for an open-line 911 call when they came across a car on fire. Officers rushed to the car that had driven off the side of the road and discovered an unconscious driver inside.

“There’s somebody in it,” one officer says in the video. “Pull him out, pull him out, pull him out!”

The officers moved quickly to free the driver from his seatbelt and managed to pull him away from the car before it burst into flames. Police believe the driver, who is uninjured, was having a medical emergency at the time of the incident.

Franklin Officers David Edwards and Kyle Brink are now being hailed as heroes for their lifesaving efforts. The police department plans to award both officers for their work.
