Victim critical after shooting near downtown Nashville

Metro Police said a victim was transported with critical injuries after a shooting near downtown Nashville.

It happened about 5 a.m. Wednesday at 3rd Avenue and Ash Street.

Police said the victim, immediately after being shot, ran to a nearby fire station and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police believe the victim is a construction worker, because his bag had construction gear in it. There's no word on where he works. The victim is in surgery and expected to survive.

Witnesses told police the suspects fled on a black motorcycle.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call police.

This shooting comes after five shootings in a 12-hour span across parts of Nashville Monday night and Tuesday morning.
