A newsletter sent to Vanderbilt University Medical Center employees this week highlighted changes coming to their benefits next year.

New hires with the medical center will not receive the tuition benefit for their children starting in 2019. Children of eligible employees attending any accredited college or university listed in the Higher Education Directory could count on Vanderbilt to partially cover tuition.

“The dependent tuition benefit will no longer be available to new hires (non-faculty). Newly hired employees will still be eligible for the employee and spouse tuition benefit. Current employees will continue to be eligible for the dependent tuition benefit," the VUMC newsletter reads in part.

It's a move that's not sitting well with some employees.

"This is a huge benefit that attracted great employees," an employee wishing to remain anonymous tells FOX 17 News. "We are now no better than anyone else as far as our benefits. The tuition benefit set us apart."

The benefit was available to full-time Vanderbilt employees of at least five continuous years.

More information about the tuition benefit can be found here.
