Vanderbilt Health to open transgender health clinic

Vanderbilt Health is set to open a new adult clinic for transgender health on Aug. 24 in the Bellevue area.

The clinic will provide comprehensive health care services for transgender patients ages 18 and older. The medical center said the clinic will offer primary care, sub-specialty consultations, mental health experts and surgeons, allowing patients to receive their care at one location.

“This new clinic allows us to meet our patients where they are in their journey and help them with the resources they need,” medical director Shayne Sebold Taylor said. “I can help them access Vanderbilt’s specialists allowing us to coordinate their care wherever they are in the transition process.”

Taylor said the clinic will offer services like hormone therapy, lab monitoring and pre and post operative guidance. One Friday each month, the clinic will have a team made up of urology, plastic surgery, and gynecology specialists to discuss surgery options.

Vanderbilt physicians and nurse practitioners will see patients by appointment on Fridays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the clinic located at 7069-B Highway 70 South in the Bellevue Valley Plaza, at the intersection of Highway 70 South and Old Hickory Boulevard.
