NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- We have an update to a story we first told you about on Thursday, as century-old letters found in an east Nashville home are reunited with their owners in just two days.

Fox 17 News spoke with the family today as they stopped by to pick them up, about what the discovery means to them.

Carolyn Morton called the South 17th Street residence her family home for more than two decades.

"I know when we moved out a lot of stuff got left upstairs," says Morton.

The letters, found this week in a bucket in the attic by current homeowner Jason Galaz, belonged to Morton's late husband, and were authored by his grandmother.

That's the Mrs. Mary Bell listed on the address line.

"It touches my heart, it's so touching to me, I don't know it makes me feel so happy," says Morton. "It brings back such memories of our family together here in this house."

The emotions the letters trigger is what Galaz says he was hoping for when he went in search of their rightful owner; scanning them into a computer, posting them online, and on social media.

"I do want to look through and see what all my husband and I had together," says Morton.

"I knew that if somebody had found these items that belonged to my family, I'd want them, so I figured it would be worth at least looking," says Galaz.

Saturday afternoon relatives gathered at the home to pick them up, leaving with a century of memories, and a lot of gratitude.

"The only thing I can think of is, it's special, it's important to be able to do the little things in life the small victories, the things that make you smile," says Galaz. "I'm happy she was able to get some closure out of it ."

"I just thank these people with all my heart, they're good people to have done something like this, I am very grateful to them for this," says Morton.

The Bell family is big, so they're currently in the process of contacting everyone to make sure they have the chance to see the letters as well.
