Two people missing after tugboat sinks near Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Two people whose boat sank in the Mississippi River near Memphis are missing.

The Coast Guard says, a notification went to the Sector Lower Mississippi River watchstanders on Friday of the 66-foot motor vessel Ricky Robinson owned by Wepfer Marine Inc., sinking with two people aboard. On Saturday, they suspended their search.

“Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the missing people,” said Capt. Roxanne Tamez, commander, Sector Lower Mississippi River.

FOX 13 Memphis identifies the missing boaters as Keith Pigram and his step-son Anquavious Newson.

Several agencies assisted the coast guard with the search, including Sector Lower Mississippi River, Memphis Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
