NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Nonprofit public policy think tank The Beacon Center has released 20 policy solutions the organization believes should be focused in the fight against COVID-19.
The solutions focus on public health and the state's economy, such as increase the number of medical personnel in the state and expanding access to healthcare.
The Beacon Center calls on Governor Bill Lee to "seek and implement these recommendations by executive order" and for the General Assembly to prioritize the measures when they reconvene in June.
The organization also praises Gov. Lee and the administration for a "deregulatory approach" to the pandemic.
Some of the policy solutions include:
-Allowing out of state licenses healthcare professionals to work in the state despite a Tennessee license if treating COVID-19
-Streamlining initial licensing for new healthcare workers and retired practitioners to reactivate licenses.
-Allowing pharmacists to process prescriptions remotely.
-Allow those quarantined to collect unemployment if ordered to do so by a medical professional.
-Relax size, weight, and time restrictions on freight trucks and truck drivers transporting medical or food supplies.
