A middle Tennessee woman is once again mourning the loss of her father after somebody broke into their house and stole her dad's ashes, among other things.

Luckily, the man's face was caught on camera and she hopes somebody will be able to identify him. This happened in Hampshire, which is in Maury County.

In a Ring doorbell video, you can see a man knocking on the front door and waiting at the entrance of Kathryn McDonald’s home on Walton Rd.

McDonald is a Pre-K teacher. When she came home on Tuesday, she noticed the refrigerator doors in the garage wide open.

“My first thought was that my husband forgot to shut the refrigerator,” she says.

McDonald then saw the open back door and called the sheriff's office. She says two chainsaws were stolen from the garage, her husband's entire watch collection, and a lot of cash.

“We were saving up to take my son to Disney World next year for his 5th birthday,” McDonald said.

Two years ago, her father died of cancer but her mom still keeps the ashes in a velvet bag in her room. McDonald says the thief took the box of ashes but left the bag.

“I know that my dad is going crazy knowing that somebody stole him, literally," McDonald said.

McDonald thinks someone may have been watching them. Her mom lives with them and takes care of her two young kids during the day.

She says Tuesday was the first time in a month her mom's car wasn't in the driveway, but she's thankful no one was home because about 10 minutes later, the man came back again with what looks to be a gardening tool.

“If my mom had been here with the kids and opened the door knowing that he had a hatchet in his hand, there's no telling what could have happened,” McDonald said.

She hopes someone will recognize this man and help get her dad back.

She also says a locked safe full of birth certificates, social security cards, and passports was taken. The family has already called a company to put more security around the house.
