A Tennessee lawmaker introduced a resolution supporting President Trump's controversial border wall.

Rep. Dawn White (R-Murfreesboro) introduced House Joint Resolution 741 last week, which encourages Congress to take immediate action to fund the construction of the border wall.

Last month, Democrats forced a government shut down over what to do with illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children. With the March 5th deadline fast approaching, DACA supporters got vocal, demanding lawmakers pass a deal when they recently gathered in Mufreesboro.

The representative said she recently went to the White House to discuss issues facing state and local governments.

“America spoke loudly in 2016 with the election of President Trump and made it clear that our leaders in Washington need to take action to stop illegal immigration and secure our nation’s borders. I proudly support President Trump and his plans to Make America Great Again, including the construction of a secure wall on our southern border,” said White. “This resolution gives the General Assembly an opportunity to express support for President Trump’s proposal and to call on Congress to fund the border wall without delay.”

“I look forward to moving this resolution forward during the current legislative session. Like many Americans, I was very proud of our President for his excellent State of the Union address last week. It is time for Congress to take action to support our President and fund the construction of the border wall, and I think it is appropriate for our state legislature to do everything we can to encourage Congress to move this forward.” - Rep. Dawn White

White represents House District 37, which covers areas of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Walter Hill and Leanna.
