World Elephant Day is coming up and Tennessee's Elephant Sanctuary is putting on an event to celebrate.

On August 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Elephant Sanctuary is hosting their third annual World Elephant Day event at the Elephant Discover Center in downtown Hohenwald, Tenn.

The celebration will kick off with the premiere of 'Attenborough and the Giant Elephant', a film about the investigation of the life and death of Jumbo the elephant, whose life inspired the movie 'Dumbo.'

Here is the schedule for the celebration:

  • 11:00 a.m. — American premiere of Attenborough and the Giant Elephant
  • 1:00 p.m. — Caregiver Chat
  • 1:30 p.m. — Elephant enrichment crafts
  • 2:00 p.m. — Second screening of Attenborough and the Giant Elephant

During the event visitors are welcome to meet with the Sanctuary Caregivers and tour the Elephant Discovery Center and Outdoor Classroom.

The event is free, but the Sanctuary is asking for attendees to RSVP on Facebook. Click here to RSVP.
