NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Tennesseans are joining thousands from across the county in a march at the U.S. Capitol to advocate for immigration relief.
Tennessee Immigration and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is departing Nashville with 35 people to participate in the "Welcome Back Congress - March for Citizenship, Care, and Climate" on Sept. 20.
TIRRC said "immigrants and allies will join thousands from across the country in a nationwide effort to demand Congress ensure a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients, essential workers, farm workers, and TPS holders."
The group says it's critical for the House and Senate to pass a pathway to citizenship as they head back from August recess.
DACA recipients, domestic workers, essential workers, community leaders, and staff from Memphis, Chattanooga, Knoxville and Middle Tennesseeans are among those traveling to D.C.
