TBI: 71-year-old Clarksville church treasurer steals nearly $500K from church
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
A Clarksville woman is accused of stealing nearly half a million dollars from the church she worked for.
Connie Parker, 71, is charged with theft over $250,000.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents said while Parker was working as a treasurer for First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, she stole about $498,000.
Agents said Parker manipulated accounting reports to the church's board to try to mask the crime. The church no longer employs Parker.
Parker was booked into Montgomery County Jail $50,000.
