Suspect arrested for homicide, robbery following suspicious death in Brentwood home

Metro police are investigating a death on Cobble Street in Brentwood (WZTV).

A man was arrested on Tuesday for criminal homicide at a home in the Holt Hills area of South Nashville.

Metro police responded to the 3700 block of Cobble Street around 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 3rd. A middle aged woman, identified as Tivvis Garrison, was found dead when her nephew, Franco Garrison, went to check on her, according to police.

Portions of blood and sweet potato were said to be seen throughout the home.

The incident was ruled a homicide with her cause of death being several gunshot wounds to the head. Two projectiles were found in the house, but no shell casings were found.

A 2009 white Cadillac CTS was missing from the home along with the victim's cellphone and driver's license.

On February 4th, police stopped the suspect, identified as Joshua Gaines, who was driving the victim's missing vehicle. Gaines was in possession of a loaded revolver and the victim's cellphone, driver's license, and reportedly portions of sweet potato were found in the vehicle.

Gaines was charged with criminal homicide and especially aggravated robbery.
