NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Dozens of pounds of pot were discovered by detectives at Nashville International Airport yesterday afternoon.
A drug dog alerted detectives to possible drugs in luggage on a Southwest flight that originated from Los Angeles, California, and connected to Cleveland, Ohio, before stopping at Nashville International Airport at around 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to Metro Nashville police. The luggage was marked as "heavy," meaning both bags weighed more than 50 lbs.
Investigators made contact with Tomisha Hamm, whose name was on the bags. The 20-year-old female gave consent for the bags to be searched.
Both bags held four stacks of black vacuumed sealed items, according to police. They opened the vacuumed packages and found another layer of black vacuumed packaging.
Police took off the next layer and found that each stack contained 10 individual plastic bags of what appeared to be marijuana. In total, the marijuana weighed 85 lbs.
Hamm was arrested for felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. She is booked into the Davidson County Jail on $100,000 bond.
