Metro Police are searching for a man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend.

Detectives are looking for 30-year-old Damarquis Morehead. Police say the shooting occurred on Jefferson Street and left a 32-year-old man injured.

Police report Morehead has three outstanding warrants from last week involving his 30-year-old ex-girlfriend. Police say Morehead broke into his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend’s home at 8:45 a.m. and fired a single gunshot that struck the man in his hip.

According to Metro Police, both the victim and Morehead’s ex-girlfriend returned fire, but did not appear to have struck Morehead as he fled.

The man was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The woman was not injured.

Morehead now faces additional three charges, two for aggravated assault and one for especially aggravated burglary.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
