Possible human remains found in Humphreys County, Police & TBI on scene
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Humphreys County Sheriff's Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have launched an investigation after possible human remains were found by hunters.
Chief Deputy Rob Edwards confirms to FOX 17 News the remains were found near Old Highway 13 off Bucket Branch Road in Waverly.
The TBI has been called in to assist in the investigation. In a statement released by the TBI, the remains are believed to be that of an adult.
"TBI Special Agents, along with investigators with the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating human skeletal remains that have been found in a wooded area on Highway 13, near I-40 in Humphreys County. The remains appear to be those of an adult, although the identity has not yet been determined. The remains will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for examination.
