Police search for gunman after person shot near APSU in Clarksville


UPDATE: 3 p.m. Clarksville Police said a man is in stable condition after a shooting near the Austin Peay State University campus on Wednesday.

Police said a man in his 20s was shot in the leg while walking on Ford Street behind Centerstone. The shooting suspect is no longer believed to be in the area of APSU after an shooting near campus.

Witnesses told police the man was walking toward College Street when an unidentified man shot several rounds at him from inside an older model Ford. The suspect vehicle turned onto Shearor Street and fled the scene.

APSU Police said there no longer seems to be a danger to campus. The suspect is described as a tall, thing man with a short afro.

The shooting happened off-campus at Ford Street behind Centerstone.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male driving an older model red Ford Taurus. The suspect fled the scene.

Police are asking people to avoid the area.
