COLUMBIA, Tenn. — 11:30 p.m. UPDATE: Man who took hostages is taken into custody by police. The suspect suffered minor injuries in the take down.

(UPDATE 6:15 p.m.) The Columbia Police said officers were on the scene of a hostage situation at a bank on Friday.
According to the CPD, police and Maury County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the Community First Bank and Trust around 2:45 p.m. for a robbery in progress with a hostage situation. None of the hostages were injured.
Police said nine hostages have been released from the bank after a 53-year-old man with a machete held them inside while attempting a robbery. Officers said as of 6:30 p.m., the only person inside the bank was the suspect.
Columbia Police said the man's main motivation does not appear to be robbery.
Multiple agencies including the MCSO, THP, and CPD were on the scene.
Law enforcement briefly closed down the road, but re-opened it after determining the suspect had no firearms.
Officers have not given any additional information about the people are involved in the hostage situation or if the suspect has left the bank.
