NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Nashville police used assistance and resources to arrest a man wanted on charges of assaulting an officer on Wednesday.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Dickerson Pike for a man with five outstanding warrants, two including assault of an officer. Police requested K9 and the Special Response Tactical Unit (SRT) for assistance.

Once all units were on scene, the suspect, Donney Hutchings, 56, refused to stop and attempted to flee from police in his vehicle then struck two other cars that were parked, according to officers.

SRT had to trap Hutchings vehicle in and used flashbangs to get him into custody, according to a Metro police affidavit.

Hutchings was found with a crack pipe on his person and taken into custody through K9 apprehension. He is charged with assault of an officer, evading arrest, trespass, possession and vandalism.
