Metro Nashville Police arrested a 48-year-old man accused in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Myatt Drive last week.

Gregorio Juarez Morente was arrested at his home on Bridgeway Avenue on Tuesday night. He told officers he drove the minivan that kit and killed 47-year-old Jennifer Hayward on May 9.

Police said after the deadly crash, Morente abandoned the minivan in a parking lot on Gallatin Pike. The vehicle had been cleaned out and the license plate was removed.

Morente said Hayward, who was homeless, stepped out in front of his car. He said he was frightened after the crash and drove off.

Police said after the initial crash, another vehicle, a 2015 Toyota Camry, also struck the woman. That driver stayed at the scene, and police said no charges are anticipated against them.

Morente was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, failure to render aid, driving on a suspended license, and driving without insurance. He was jailed on a $10,000 bond.
