NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- A man faces charges in connection to a deadly Wayne County shooting Monday morning. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirms to FOX 17 News they are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Sheriff Shane Fisher says the shooting took place early Monday morning at 12:52 a.m. at 1150 Tennessee Lane in Iron City near the Alabama state line. The victim has been identified asMichael Pierce, 28, of Florence, Alabama.

Pierce was found dead inside the home when deputies arrived to the scene.

After gathering evidence and processing the scene, investigators identified Terry Bailey as a suspect who left the scene before officers arrived.

Patrol officers reported finding Bailey at his home on Tennessee Lane and took him to the sheriff's office for questioning. Bailey has since been charged with first degree murder.

A motive is unclear but the Bailey and Pierce knew each other, according to police.
