Nashville Zoo welcomes one millionth visitor

The Nashville Zoo welcomed its one millionth visitor on Thursday.

The lucky guest was Kristyn Macri, a mom from Spring Hill, visiting with her two sons, Asher, 2, and Cohen, 4 months.

Krystin says her family visits the zoo every week because its Asher's favorite place in the world.

"Every morning he wakes up and asks to go to the Zoo and to see the 'aminals.," Macri said.

This is the first time the zoo's history that it had reached one million visitors annually.

The Macri family received a free Nashville Zoo household membership and prize bag of Zoo-themed gifts.

The Nashville Zoo is 21 years old. With the historic event Thursday, it places the zoo in the top 25 percent in the country.
