The body of a missing swimmer was successfully recovered after emergency crews searched Percy Priest Lake for two days, officials confirm.

Nashville Office of Emergency Management reported the swimmer was able to be returned to his home to his family on Friday.

Emergency crews began searching for the missing swimmer Thursday after responding to a possible drowning.

Nashville Fire Department (NFD) said crews responded to the Anderson Road Recreation Area on Thursday for a water rescue.

NFD was working with other agencies assisting in the search through the use of sonar and drones along with manpower.

NFD and Office of Emergency Management (OEM) crews were searching the scene on Thursday when the incident was reported.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) said earlier this month that there have been eight boating related deaths in 2023.
