Two people rescued, residents transported after Portland house fire

PORTLAND, Tenn. (WZTV) — Two people were rescued from an upstairs window during a house fire in Portland, officials confirm.

Four people were trapped inside the home, but two managed to escape, the Portland Fire Department reported. The other two were rescued from the second floor of the home by firefighters.

All four residents of the home were immediately transported to area hospitals, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but foul play is not suspected.

Fire and EMS crews responded to a house fire on Demase St. sometime Wednesday afternoon.
