NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mitch Schaefer enjoys working out, “I’ve been to the traditional gyms and I know what it is there, and you can do pretty much everything there here,” Schaefer said.

Schaefer and his family have a built in gym inside his garage, ”Yeah why not, I have the space here and people want the convenience, and the local options and I’m opening my gym here for everybody else,” Schaefer said.

So, Schaefer has decided to post his gym on AIRGYM, an app that launched today, “It can be anywhere from $2-3 an hour, not bad at all considering what you’re paying at a regular gym, “ Schaefer said.

“AIRGYM is being called Airbnb of the fitness industry, “ Chris Daskam, the apps founder said.

Daskam came up with the idea last year, “It’s a mobile app, and a website, that will allow you to either post your home gym, garage gym, basement gym, you workout in the backyard, you’re a fitness trainer, you’ll be able to post your gyms for anyone to come over and workout,” Daskam said.

“If your traveling and you didn’t want to pay the drop in fee be able to open up the app as long as you register, you’ll see a map and filter any type of gym that you’re looking for, yoga, CrossFit, strength, cardio training, you can filter based on your preference is on your workout, “ Daskam said.

Once you see the gym pop up on your map -- you can click the gym and find the reviews and ratings -- and book the gym as long as they have a time slot open.
