NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Nashville mom is accused of apparently overdosing on drugs while watching her infant baby.
Sunnie Smithson is charged with attempted aggravated child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphenilia and illegal drug possession.
Smithson was found passed out in her apartment from an apparent overdose on Monday, an affidavit said. According to the baby's father, Smithson was supposed to be watching their 1-month-old baby, but when he returned to the residence, Smithson was found passed out with a syringe near her. The baby was found unharmed and asleep in another room. According to an affidavit, Smithson was transported to the hospital.
The next day Smithson was pulled over for a traffic violation and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. Police also said they found power cocaine and a syringe in the vehicle.
Smithson is being held on a $13,500 bond.
