MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — A woman was found dead with stab wounds in her Murfreesboro garage Thursday, police said.
The husband, 80-year-old Phokam Saysourinho, was arrested Friday for first-degree murder, Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) report.
Officers found the wife, identified as 68-year-old Thatsaphone Saysourinho, with stab wounds and trauma to her body.
Now, a quiet neighborhood remains shaken up after what just happened on their street.
Tyler Dunn says that he and his wife were working from home when the horrific scene happened. They had a nanny watching their baby, but none of them heard anything during that time.
Me and my wife are just baffled and confused on how that could’ve gone down," Dunn said. "It's the last thing we suspected. There were no signs to make anyone on the outside think anything like that would ever happen.
In the two years living next door to the Saysourinhos, Dunn and his family say they had nothing but good encounters with their neighbors.
“Always waved. They didn’t speak very much English so conversations were short, but definitely very friendly: "how’s your day." We have a young child and they were always really excited to see her and wave at her, see her reactions.”
Dunn says his neighbor's wife, or That as they call her, would often bring over eggrolls or dinner before they had events.
“I'll miss seeing her on her front porch and gardening. We are all very sad. The whole neighborhood is, and wishing the best for the family.”
Family members gathered inside the Saysourinho's home Friday, some going in with flowers.
