One arrested, one at large after victim dies from assault in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
A Nashville man has been arrested on Wednesday night after the victim he assaulted died.
According to police, Alfred Jenkins, 54, died this week at Vanderbilt Medical Center after he was assaulted near the intersection of Lincoln and Lafayette Street. Investigation reveals that Asbury Jenkins, 50, aand Gerold Askew, 52, were together the morning that Jenkins and Askew got into a fight. Asbury got involved with the incident and advised police that he struck Jenkins in the head and body with a stick. Askew then reportedly kicked Jenkins while he was down.
Asbury was charged with criminal homicide.
Askew remains at large and a homicide warrant has been issued for him.
