Nashville man accused of attacking neighbor with ax in quarrel over chickens
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - A Nashville man is accused of attacking his neighbor with an ax in an argument over chickens.
Garret Ankey is charged with aggravated assault after the incident along Clarksville Pike on Tuesday.
According to a Metro Police affidavit, Ankey was arguing his neighbor, claiming the neighbor's dog had been "eating or killing" Ankey's chickens.
At some point, the dispute escalated into a physical altercation in which Ankey allegedly used an ax to attack his neighbor. Police say the victim's forearms were sliced while trying to protect himself from the blows.
Two witnesses apparently pinned Ankey down until police arrived. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The neighbor was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Ankey was booked into Davidson County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
