Nashville Electric Service takes aim at problem pigeons with sound cannon
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Nashville Electric Service (NES) is taking aim at problem pigeons with a sound cannon.
NES says pigeons are creating a potential problem at the substation located at Pennington Bend Road. The pigeons are roosting at the station, leading to an increased number of birds and the increased potential a power outage could be caused by one of the birds.
Taking a proactive measure to avoid potential outages, NES says they will be using a sound cannon that produces a loud noise similar to firecrackers and disrupts the nesting pattern of birds roosting at the location.
Starting Monday, September 10, NES will be using the sound cannon at the 2624 Pennington Bend Road location between 7:30-9 a.m. and 5-8 p.m.
