Middle Tennessee State University police officer arrested for currency theft over $1,000
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A Middle Tennessee State University police officer has been arrested on charges of theft while working.
According to the Murfreesboro Police arrest report, 39-year-old Marco Burke was arrested on Monday. The investigating officer says just after midnight, Burke took $1,100 in currency from an unoccupied vehicle while on duty and working as an MTSU officer.
FOX 17 News spoke with school officials who say Burke has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Burke has been charged with theft over $1,000 and was booked on $30,000 bond.
According to the MTSU Police Department Facebook page, Burke joined the department in June 2017 and received POST certification a few months later.
