
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted for questioning in connection to the shooting of a car thief Friday morning outside a Waffle House.
Investigation shows that 22-year-oldChristopher Rhodes jumped into the driver's seat of a 2019 Nissan Sentra shortly after the female driver stepped out of the vehicle to grab her to-go order at the Waffle Houseat 238 W. Trinity Lane.
Metro Police said the female passenger in the car was startled, quickly got out of the vehicle and began yelling.
A man in a nearby blue BMW sedan saw what was happening and ran to the Sentra. He then tried to pull Rhodes from the car and shot him during the process.
Rhodes drove off in the Sentra and was involved in a crash a shortly after on I-40 east between Donelson and Stewarts Ferry Pikes.
He was treated for the gunshot wound and is currently jailed for robbery and carjacking.
The man who tried to intervene in the auto theft and who shot Rhodes drove away in the BMW.
