One killed, two injured in gunfight at Bellshire Terrace

Metro Police have identified a man killed in a gunfight involving three people Tuesday night.

Henry Oscar Smith, 26, died from injuries sustained in the shooting in the 1320 block of Bellshire Terrace around 8 p.m.

Smith and two acquaintances, Calvin Birdsong, 21, and Bruce Mallory, 25, arrived at Bellshire and multiple shots were fired. Neighbors told FOX 17 News that they heard at least eight to 10 shots and initially thought the gunfire was fireworks.

Smith later died at Skyline Medical Center while Birdsong and Mallory are still hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say a handgun was located near Smith on the scene.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Police are not looking for other suspects involved in this case.


UPDATE: Metro Police say three people were seriously injured during an apparent gunfight in Nashville.

The call came in just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the 1320 block of Bellshire Terrace.

All three people with gunshot wounds are being treated at the hospital for critical injuries.

Police said one person transported themselves to the hospital and two others were taken by ambulance.

Police said one person who was shot was found laying in a driveway.

Neighbors say they heard 8 to 10 shots but initially thought it was fireworks. Neighbors also say it isn't the first time police have been in their neighborhood, and they are sick of all the violence plaguing the area.

Right now, police say they aren't looking for more suspects, but that could change. There was no motive given.
