Man with suspended license charged for killing woman after crash in South Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
A man was arrested this morning following a fatal crash on Bell Road over Percy Priest Dam on Friday around 9 p.m.
According to police, the suspect driver, identified as Brandon Mackay, 39, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck on Bell Road when it struck a Honda CRV and caused it to lose control.
The Honda then crashed into a concrete wall and a large metal box before colliding with an on-coming Ford Expedition SUV. The F-150 then crossed into the opposite lane and hit a sidewalk and fencing.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Lisa Stewart, 49, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died.
Mackay was not injured but showed signs of impairment, and had a blood sample drawn by court order. No one was injured in the Expedition as well.
According to a Metro Police affidavit, Mackay has at least one DUI conviction from Sevier County in 2007.
Mackay is charged with vehicular homicide and held on $250,750 bond.
