HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A man has pleaded guilty to charges accusing him of shooting and killing a Hendersonville family's dogs.
Philip Looper, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and one count of aggravated assault on Dec. 14, according to the Hendersonville Standard. As part of a plea deal, four other charges against him were dismissed.
The family that was seemingly, randomly targeted twice in 2019 is Donald and Daina Spisak. Police say Looper killed their two dogs on one day, then showed back up at their home the next day before he was captured. The couple says they didn't know Looper before the incidents.
Pushed into hiding from Looper while on the phone with 911 dispatchers, the Daina pleaded with police to help her. "He's got a gun. He's going to kill me," the woman whispered. "He's at my door. Please help me. Please help, come quick."
Looper had left the scene by the time police arrived, but he would return to the scene the next day armed with a weapon. He was stopped by a police sergeant watching the area and arrested.
