Man cited after deadly weekend crash in Rutherford County
CHRISTIANA, Tenn. —
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a man was cited after a 67-year-old woman died in a crash over the weekend.
The THP said the crash happened on U.S. Hwy 231 near Crescent Road in Christiana, Tenn. on Saturday.
Officers said Felipe Bautista-Nicolas, a Smyrna resident, was driving southbound on Hwy 231 in a Nissan Rogue. Lynette Phillips, of Murfreesboro, failed to stop at the stop sign on Crescent Road and was struck by Bautista's vehicle on the driver's side, according to the THP.
Phillips was killed in the crash. Bautista, two 35-year-old women, an 8-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl were all injured in the crash.
The THP said Bautista was cited for driving without a license and not having insurance. No additional charges are expected.
